John Payne
Short Version---don 't hold your breath for a longer version.
Two marriages that did not last, one of 12 years, one of 20. Four
truly wonderful children, all boys, aged 33, 30, 17 and 10 ( yes TEN). Career
as performing musician since 1968 and directing, and teaching at my own
small music school in Brookline Village since 1979---kids and adults, but
mostly adults. Have a passion for teaching complete beginners and
teaching improvisation, especially to beginners and near beginners, and have
developed my own methodology for this which, in theory, I will be writing up
in detail one of these days, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one either.
I find that there is no career satisfaction like the satisfaction of
making a significant positive difference in the life of another and I have
been fortunate to have had the opportunity to accomplish that in a number of
cases.
A recent picture, summary of highlights of my performing career
and a description of my music teaching philosophy are available on my teacher
bio page at www.jpmc.us.
